Barrhead High School searched after receiving malicious communication
Barrhead High was flooded by police officers following the hoax, which was being treated seriously given the events only hours before in Manchester.
An East Renfrewshire Council spokesperson said: “A malicious communication was received by one of our schools and police were contacted in line with our procedures. This was thoroughly investigated and was shown to be unfounded. Pupils remain in class as normal. Parents have been contacted.”

Hide AdNobody from the council would elaborate on the nature of the ‘malicious communication’ or the information it contained.
A spokesperson for Police Scotland said: “Police are treating as malicious a threatening communication sent to Barrhead High School, Aurs Rd, Barrhead, around 10am this morning (Tuesday, May 23).
“Police carried out a search of the school and nothing suspicious was found. The school was not evacuated.”
